24 hours and counting…

Yet another quick update – 24 hours to go for IBESR to sign off on our match and allow us to file i600. There is no way for us to know if our file has been signed at children’s judge and returned to IBESR or if it is still sitting at children’s judge waiting in the endless piles to get a signature.

Our comfort at this point is that as cliche as it sounds – our file and paperwork is not hidden from God’s sight! He knows where it is and knows the day that we will receive the call.

At this point we are still praying for a miracle! There is actually still a possibility that it could be signed by april first and not be received by our agency for several days, which would still count. If that is the case, and our referral is dated April 1 or prior, we could still file our i600 which at this point would simply be a speedier process. (“Speedy seems to be a word only used and understood Stateside! Lol)

We know our agency and several other agencies have already received several referrals this week and they are expecting more tomorrow. So there is a chance!

We are asking others to join us in praying for a miracle – that we would have a referral signed by tomorrow end of day!

We are also asking for prayer that if we move beyond the April 1st deadline that IBESR would continue to process referrals with the same diligence and speed and crazy rush that they have the past few weeks! I think it is safe to say that the amount of referrals that have been issued this month and last is greater than any month seen in the past few years! That is incredibly encouraging! We are praying that both for our file and other waiting families that this intensity continues beyond the 4/1 deadline!

On another note, our conversation with our kids about the bonding trip could not have gone better! They were bummed but encouraged that they could travel soon after and immediately asked who they would get to stay with! ๐Ÿ˜‰ they also collectively decided that 15 days in 110 degree weather did not sound like an ideal experience! Haha ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thank you for your prayers, questions, encouragement, and support! We are so thankful for our community of supportive families!

Blessings, and pray we  have great news in the next few days! ๐Ÿ˜‰

We are praying for your family! We did get our referral this week and we are very thankful. This has been an experience unlike anything we could have imagined. The only consistently comforting thought is that God is in control. It is our prayer that Haiti’s government continues to move files at the rate they have this month!

Laura, I’ve followed your blog for awhile. We are awaiting a referral, too. Praying for you. Did you see the graftingtreasures blog post for this past week? About the hidden paperwork? Your comment about it not being hidden from God’s sight….
    Aslan is on the move!

    • I hadn’t seen it and just read it when I saw your note, her perspective is SO right on. I just devoured Jennifer Ebenhack’s new memoir titled “In a Sun-Scorched Land”, and was reminded throughout how adopting from Haiti is literally like fighting Satan’s amassed followers to release children from the grip of darkness. We have no hope of completing an adoption without hanging onto Jesus for dear life and allowing God to enter the battle before us. Thank you for sharing that post and the comments about hidden paperwork – it is beginning to feel like that on our end too – Almost feels like our file is being “passed over” which is so troubling! We knew there was a slim chance of getting a referral by the cut off date, but there were SO many referrals coming out the past two weeks, that out of 100 families still waiting we felt like we really had a shot! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m going to begin praying that way, though – that God would uncover files and block Satan from hiding paperwork from diligent workers! That He would bring everything to light – removing all obstacles! Thank you for your note! Does your family have a blog? I’d love to check out your story! – LM
